This is being reposted to restore the link to this original post. My takeaway point from the first sacred principle supposedly set out by Hermes is this: Our minds can influence the energy of the universe in such a way that the appearance of the world around us be changed by our intention and will. Stay in full mindfulness of the application of Universal Law as related to self and to others, and know that in love all life is given, in love all things move.
Katherine Hurst The kind of time and effort you have to put into it is such that you should be dedicating practically all your time awake and asleep (I am lucid in my sleep and can continue thinking then, I know most people are not, but that's all productive time for me as my mind never shuts down or goes into a normal sleep mode).
As a Man Thinketh is a classic in the truest sense: few books have been so widely read, have stood the test of time so well, have had such an impact on generations of readers, and have carried such a simple, profound message: You are what you think. There are seven Universal Laws or Principles by which everything in the Universe is governed.
It would be fun to get a running list on all the reasons why the Law of Attraction is bogus. "Like attracts like." The law of attraction forms the basis for positive thinking but is much more than that. After contemplating what Jonathon has said as well as some of the other people on this blog, I have concluded that at this time, it is very difficult to prove if the law of attraction exists or not using current scientific methods.
Science already endorsed the LoA. In 1902, the book As a Man Thinketh, by James Allen, mentioned an idea that is similar to the Law of Attraction, though not called so by name. A child who is born in a war zone, who tries the law of attraction, gets no help from anyone.
Thirty years later, Napoleon Hill wrote Think and Grow Rich - a book that remains to this day one of the bestselling books of all time — in which he describes a method for controlling your own thoughts, the energy they contain (which can attract other thoughts) and how to use this knowledge to get what you want.
So one thing is true for sure, after millions of individuals not being able to understand and apply mental power and "Law of attraction", people like this man have found a way to jump into the same train, tell passengers to leave that LOA train and come with him to a better one.
The only ‘evidence' that exists to support the Law of Attraction is anecdotal. Thus, Islam and the Law of Attraction teach that a believer must engage the world with faith and with confidence, expecting success, abundance and prosperity in accordance and in alignment with Divine Nature and Divine Will.
The law of conservation of energy was heralded by Faraday as the most important discovery of the century, as the highest in physical sciences, which our faculties permit us to perceive (Youmans, 1876). Despite plenty of anecdotal evidence of The Secret Law of Attraction working, no real science is available to support it, and plenty of anecdotal evidence of it not working also exists.
I have read and heard many teach parts and bits and pieces of this or these laws. The president both needs his party to govern by laws, and has sought largely to appoint cabinet secretaries from the military and business elites who are determinately outside of the party structure.
